Why action only if tragedy happens?

I READ your report “Wooden Jetty in Tanjung Aru (Not Meant For Tourists) Dismantled” with disgust.
Any illegal structure should have been dismantled long ago before the tragedy happened.
As a Malaysian, I am really fed up! It is very obvious that our authorities will not make any serious action on illegal activities and structures or dangerous areas despite numerous reports and anger unless death occurs.
It seems they cannot see or purposely not see the serious impact of illegal activities and structures until something terrible happens. I wish to ask all of us, can we say that “death” is good for Malaysia just so that prompt action can be taken?

It is very sad and not good at all to have something done because of death.
