NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES - (Saturday, December 29, 1962) - BRUNEI TOWN, Fri. - The Brunei Government yesterday announced a relief scheme for needy people in outlying kampongs in Brunei.

The relief in the form of food supplies and money will be arranged by District Officers.

A Statement issued by the Emergency Executive Committee of Brunei yesterday afternoon said that more details of the relief scheme will be announced in due course.

The Committee at its meeting yesterday directed that certain projects under the State five-year Development Plan should be started immediately to expedite development of the rural areas.

The launching of the projects is also calculated to provide employment for the people.

Projects to be started immediately are mostly improvement paths to provide easy access to people living in remote kampongs in Tutong and Temburong Districts.

The Brunei Government has approved an expenditure of $2,028,675 for these projects.

The statement further said that plans for the construction of paths in Belait District will be announced later.
