New Minister for Malaysian Affairs

North Borneo News & Sabah Times (Tuesday, October 9, 1962) - KUALA LUMPUR, Monday. — The Malayan High Commissioner to Australia, Dato Sulaiman Bin Dato Abdul Rahman is tipped to be the new Minister for Malaysian Affairs, according to well-informed sources in Kuala Lumpur today. The new Ministry of Malaysian Affairs is expected to be created six months before the birth of the Federation of Malaysia, embracing Malaya, Singapore, Brunei, Sarawak and North Borneo – scheduled to take place in August 31 next year. According to well-informed sources close to the Government the new Ministry has to be created in order to coordinate the increasing amount’ of Inter-Governmental activities. 

Already the Federation Government has established the Malaysian Affairs Division which is now under the direct supervision of Malayan Prime Minister, Tengku Abdul Rahman. Dato Sulaiman took up his present appointment in Australia in May last year and has always been regarded as one of the close advisers of Tunku Abdul Rahman when he was Minister of Interior before taking up the Australian appointment. – Reuter.
