North Borneo IGC team for Kuching

NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES - (Tuesday, October 2, 1962) - JESSELTON, Monday. — A few of Sabah’s members of the Inter Governmental Committee left Jesselton by Malayan Airways Viscount for Kuching today. 

They were the Financial Secretary Mr H. W. Davidson, Mr Donald Stephens, Mr Pang Tet Tshung (Mr Khoo Siak Chiew’s Alternate) and Mr W. S. Holley, the Under-Secretary (Malaysia). 

Those who left today are members of the Fiscal Subcommittee of the Inter-Governmental Committee. 

It was learned that the reason for the visit to Sarawak was for them to meet the Sarawak members of the Fiscal Sub-committee and see whether it would be possible to work out a uniform approach regarding finance by the Sabah and Sarawak delegation in the Inter Governmental Committee.

The Sabah men are expected to return to Jesselton on 3rd October.

Meanwhile, Sir John Martin, KCMG, CB, CVO, Deputy Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies is expected in Jesselton on Friday, 5th October, from London. 

Sir John will be a member of the British delegation of the Inter-Governmental Committee.

Dato Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Majid and other Malayan members of the Inter-Governmental Committee are due to return to Jesselton on 6th October.

The Committee’s Joint Secretary, Mr P.J. O’Brien, MC, returns to Jesselton from Malaya on 3rd October.

It is expected that the Inter-Governmental Committee will meet in the middle of this month.
