KUDAT, Fri. - The United Sabah National Organisation celebrated it first anniversary here by giving a satay party on December 26.

There were about 300 guests present at the party.

During the evening, O.K.K. Datu Mustapha bin Datu Harun President of Usno, congratulated all those who had been successful in the first local government elections and told those who had been defeated that they were still members of the Alliance Party.

He asked for the continued support of the members and thanked voters who returned the Alliance candidates.

He said those who had voted for the Alliance had showed their confidence in the Party.

He also thanked the government officers for arranging the elections and making them such a great success.

“The results of the elections proved a complete victory for the Sabah Alliance Party,” he added.

He explained that although there were some wards which had been keenly contested, it was due to lack of time to arrange Alliance candidates to stand for the elections in each of these wards.

“As this was the first election held in North Borneo I hope that there would be no feelings among the candidates who stood for the elections and lost; but rather let us all work together for the benefit of the people in this country,” the Datu said.

“I am sure that we would work together, Sabah will be a much more prosperous country and at the same time raci

al harmony will be maintained.”

He revealed that the headquarters of Usno would be moved to Jesselton before the end of this month.

The Datu said: “The aim of the Usno is to try to unite people of all races in Sabah and to help them to understand one another’s views and problems.

More so, we hope to protect the interests of all the communities in this country and to promote the economy, education, social welfare and health of the people.

“I have longed for the unity of the people in this land and now I am glad to say that my dreams have come true.

“Although we do not belong to the one party we are now actually sailing in the same “boat” which is the symbol of the Sabah Alliance,” the Datu said.
