Umno leader  addresses  youth gathering

NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES - (Saturday, November 3, 1962) -JESSELTON. - Youth leader from the various organisations assembled at the Jesselton Touch Club premises on Tuesday evening to meet Dato Sardon, the Malayan Minister of Transport, who is also the Youth Leader of Umno, and one of the advisers to the Malayan Youth Council. 

He gave a short talk on the activities of the Youth Organisation in Malaya, and said that the Youth Club has full Government support. 

He also explained the difference between the Malayan Youth Council (M.Y.C.) and the Malayan Association of Youth Clubs (MYAC). He said that the MYC is a central body looking after the welfare of the various Youth Clubs, and MAYC is born through MYC.  He urged the youth of north Borneo to amalgamate, for he stressed that youth play role in the world an important of today. 

On the whole it was a very interesting talk, and the youth leaders commented afterwards that they have gained tremendous knowledge about the youth organisations in Malaya through this talk. The youth Leaders who represented various youth organisations were as follows:- 

Jesselton Youth Club were represented by Mr. Andrew Yap, Miss. Katherine Chai, Mr. Christoper Lagan, Miss. Betty Wong, and Mr. David Voon. Anglican Youth Fellowship Mr. Richard Wong. Catholic Youth Association Mr. Francis Rajah, Mr. Peter Chong and Father Chung. Penampang Youth Association Mr. Aloysious Joeinan. Basel Mission Youth Fellowship. Mr. Howard Yap.
