NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES - (November 21, 1962) - JESSELTON , Tues. - It is learned that at the meeting of the Sabah Alliance Party last night the application by the Pasok Momogun Party and the Sabah Indian Congress was approved.

It was disclosed at the meeting that the Pasok Momogun had agreed to join the Sabah Alliance and that the party would be allowed five seats in the National Council and two seats in the Executive Committee: the Sabah Indian Congress has also accepted and it has representative in the National Council.

The meeting passed a thanks to the Committee headed by Mr Pang Tet Tshung which attended to the programme for the Tunku’s stay in Jesselton (together with the Government members of the Committee). A vote of thanks was also passed to all those who had given a hand in arranging the various details connected with the Tunku’s visit.

The meeting also confirmed the last minute change in the Alliance Symbol. At the last meeting of the Alliance National Council the decision was that a clenched fist should be the symbol of the Alliance Party.

It is understood that later it was found that a clenched fist had communist connotations and it was therefore decided that the symbol should be changed. The symbol which was approved and which has been registered with the Controller of Elections is an outrigger boat with five persons in meaning that all the five Parties which comprise the Allies are in the same boat.

The meeting was adjourned much earlier then expected last night at the request of some members so as to allow Sandakan members of the National Alliance to attend. The meeting will continue today commencing at 5pm.
