INTELLIGENCE and education are separate matters. Intelligence is born with a person, whereas Education is knowledge acquired through learning.  Unfortunately, Education does not contribute to intelligence.

This was demonstrated at the Kuala Lumpur High Court just last week during a Corruption trial.  The case between Tengku Adnan and Deputy Public Prosecutor, Cik Julia Ibrahim.  Details of the proceedings were widely published in the Daily Express – front page and Page 6 on Friday, 6th March 2020.

The corruption case involved RM2 million given to Tengku Adnan by businessman Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong.

 The Deputy Public Prosecutor Julia Ibrahim asked Tengku Adnan whether the RM2 million given to him by Chai was considered valuable.  Tengku Adnan replied: “No, it was not.  RM2 million is just like my pocket money”.

 A smart Deputy Public Prosecutor would have jumped on the golden opportunity and take advantage of Tengku Adnan’s response, by asking the following questions:

In your own admission, your pocket money came from Bribery and Corruption and not from your wealth which you have declared to be nearly a billion ringgit?;

Did you not want to erode your wealth?;

What do you have to say to this which you have yourself admitted?.

 You further claimed that the RM2 million was a political donation.  You also claimed that the political donation had nothing to do with Umno Headquarters.

 Based on your own statement, it is conclusively proven that the RM2 million was not a political donation, but corruption money to induce you to approve something that is against the law and policies of the Government.

 The questions are:-

l If it was Political Donation why was it paid to your personal bank account and not directly to the claimed Political Entity?;

l Have you proof that the RM2 million was transferred from your personal bank account to the Political Entity as claimed?;

l Why did you not at any time during this trial name the Political Entity, to support your claim that it was a Political Donation?;

In the absence of proof of transfer from your personal account to the Political Entity, the RM2 million was solicited by you for your pocket money?
