Many people are struggling to overcome negative thoughts that have surfaced following the coronavirus pandemic.

People are worried constantly about losing their jobs, pay cuts, displacement and dozens of issues related to the restriction on movements and new normal procedures.

Bad feelings due to the current uncertainty surfaces off and on daily in almost all homes and it is affecting their thought process, focus, actions, energy and attention.

The present situation is unavoidable and if you allow this unpleasant thought development to continue, it is going to impede your growth, well-being and peace of mind.

Several readers have lamented to me about how lousy they feel daily because they are overwhelmed with bad news on an imminent recession and global economic crisis.

Well, these situations are beyond our control but what we need to understand is how we can govern and manage the information overload we are receiving overwhelmingly.

Having negative emotions that something injurious is going to happen all the time and viewing things adversely can be dangerous.

In fact, unpleasant occurrences are normal due to the environment we all live in and such messages should be viewed positively, meaning that the thought requires attention.

We should never feel hopeless in such a state because these are learning progressions of life.

To a great extent, all thoughts are developed by the individuals themselves and sometimes allowing outside influences contribute to them further.

The harmful effect of these unhealthy developments is that they create suspicion on others and in the end, we see negativity in others, which is actually a reflection of ourselves.

Having such an attitude has a two-way effect – it not only makes us miserable but we also make others feel gloomy.

It is time we display a positive outlook on life so that we have happy thoughts and we attract positive things.

This is because carrying negative thoughts are contagious and is hurtful and it can affect our health, aura and relationship with others.

There are several simple methods and techniques that can help us to get out of such situations and among them are to watch a funny movie or to spend time telling jokes with children and friends.

One powerful gesture, which I find can turn negativity to a pleasant reflection, is to smile – which is contagious, as it spreads the positive energies to all present in that environment.

Having an optimistic attitude towards people and things is like magic – we will see all actions and interactions falling into place as planned because it creates a cheerful mood.

Although it can be challenging to keep ourselves away from negative things, we still can carry a constructive attitude by focusing on the good things in life.

Here, it is imperative that we are in the company of people who are upbeat thinkers because their presence not only brings cheer but will also motivate us to move forward.

Learn to treat all troubles as experiences in life and even in the most painful moments we should focus on the good things in life so that we are above the depression situation.

Developing a healthy attitude does not bring harm but creates happy vibrations to overcome problems.

When faced with negative thoughts, replace them with positive ones and think about what you want and not what you don’t want.

Also, be careful what you think because your mental process can decide your day.  Starting the day with positive affirmations is another strong way to ward off negative thoughts.

It is recommended that all individuals should focus on something that inspires his or her state of mind daily and maintain the thought process to create the desired results.  At the end of the day, success lies in our hands in the way we view and carry out our duties.

Keep trying and don’t give up.

- would like to conclude with a quote from self-development author Brian Tracy: “Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, you change your life.”

Four steps to positive thinking

- Focus on what you are thinking about and ensure they are positive. Control your thoughts and if you get negative thoughts coming, pause and change the hostility to acceptance.

- Prevent your mind from being influenced by other people’s negative thoughts. To do this, stay away from destructive people.

- Prepare a checklist on the things you want to change in your life. Write down the pessimistic attitudes you have on a piece of paper using black ink. Take it outside your house and burn the paper and you will be free from such issues again and start your life fresh.

- Write down optimistic affirmations statements and stick them in your bedroom, work place or places where you spend most of your time. You can also carry them with you in the form of cards. Enjoy the greatness they make you feel whenever you read them.

Powerful affirmations

- am very capable.

- am a positive person.

- vibrate positive energies.

- am in full control of my thoughts.

- create my own space for satisfaction

- Other people do not control my emotions; I do.

- There is nothing I cannot do if I put my mind to it.

- I choose to react in a positive way in all situations
