JESSELTON: NORTH BORNEO NEWS & SABAH TIMES (Saturday, October 6, 1962)

A new member of the Education Department arrived in Jesselton this week. He is Dr F. J. A. Rawcliffe, who has been in the Education Department, Malaya since 1946. He left Kuala Lumpur, where he was Chief Education Officer, in May this year.

Dr Rawcliffe will be Education Officer, Interior and Labuan in December, when Mr David Emberson goes on leave. In May 1963 Dr Rawcliffe will replace Mr Geoffrey Clarke as Principal of Sabah College when the latter returns to the Education Service in Britain. Dr Rawcliffe read French literature at the Sorbonne, Paris, and afterwards took a Doctorate in Psychology at Eouvain, Belgium. He first went to Malaya in 1945 with the Occupation Forces.
