Filipinos arrive in Sandakan

SANDAKAN, Tues. – More than 120 Filipinos with their wives and children arrived on board six kumpits last week.
It was the largest batch of Filipinos ever seen here during the last few months.
They said they had come here to work after learning that a large number of labourers would be needed to work in the timber camps of Sandakan early next year.

According to Immigration regulations they could be returned to the Philippines if they could not find jobs within two weeks of their arrival.
