I REFER to your report “State Govt Urged To Revive TAED” (DE Nov. 22) and cannot agree more with the suggestion by the former Luyang MP and Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Hiew King Chew.

The Tanjung Aru Eco-Development can shift world tourist attention to Sabah.

The Swedish group that conceptualised it was world famous for reviving a seafront town in Sweden. Its blueprint won a Singapore design award.

The problem is that it got a bad press from the start from activists who felt they know better than everyone else.

And of course, politicians in Warisan who knew they could get bulk votes from the squatters who want to continue enjoying the most expensive prime land in Kota Kinabalu for free, besides free electricity and water through theft.

The previous Warisan-Plus State Government realised much later the benefits of the project and decided not to scrap it.

With tourism down globally in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, now is the time to revive it perhaps on a smaller scale so that it is ready when tourism is expected to recover in 2023.
