I RESIDE in Golf Garden and read with interest your Hotline report dated 17.10.2020 captioned “CMCO Hampers Rebuilding Of Drains’.

The mitigation drain at Golf Garden did not collapse early this year. The collapse occurred a few years ago.

The question that needs to be asked is why did the collapse happen at Golf Garden whilst it is intact elsewhere.

The answer could very well be the piling works done to build the 3-story building at Lot 38. Who authorised the piling works for the rebuilding of the house?

Then there was the extension of the house towards the drain which again underwent piling works.

Who authorised this extension work? I understand that a temporary grant was issued for the land between house No. 38 and the mitigation drain.

Which department is responsible to approve the grant for the land on which the extension was done?

What was the temporary grant approved for? Is a structure with piling works a temporary building?

Was piling work on this piece of land approved? Your report stated that several “L-shaped units” of the mitigation drain had deteriorated.

Who informed you that they had deteriorated? How is it possible for L-shaped concrete walls to deteriorate within 20 years? Perhaps you should get confirmation from Hume on the life-span of such ‘L-shaped units’.

Another complaint is the basketball court at Golf Garden. It is now badly damaged by heavy vehicles that plied to and fro to deliver building material and excavators.

Is the damage done going to be repaired by Majlis Daerah Penampang (MDPPG) using tax payers’ money?

Who authorised the usage of the Basketball court for heavy vehicles to ply in and out the area for the extension.
