X’mas message for seamen

Jesselton, Fri – The following Christmas message for Merchant Seamen has been received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, The Rt. Hon. Duncan Sandys, M.P

“It gives me very much pleasure to send to each one of you and to all those associated with your welfare, my warmest good wishes  for Christmas and the New Year.”

The U.K Minister of Transport, the Rt. Hon. Ernest Marples, MP, sends the following Christmas message.

“To all member of the Merchant Navy and particularly to those of you who will be spending Christmas in Clubs and  Hostels overseas, it send you seasonal greetings once again.

I know that many of you will be enjoying Christmas in clubs for seafarers far away from home and I am sure that those of you enjoy this traditional good cheer will wish to  join with me in thanking all those who make this possible.

A Happy Christmas a Prosperous New Year to all of you”.

Abolishing child exam

(Tuesday, October 2, 1962)

JESSELTON. – “The Present System of Examination to Assess The Attainment of the Child Should Be Abolished”, is the title of the Panel Discussion to be held at Turnball Hall, Sabah College, on Friday, 5th October, at 7.30 pm.

This is being sponsored by the English Section of the Jesselton Teachers’ Association, and it is hoped that as many members of the public especially teachers and education enthusiasts will attend.
