HEART is a non-governmental organisation that gets no funds from the government for helping the homeless animals.
From treating homeless animals on the streets, to giving shelter to abandoned and disabled animals in our foster homes, this is what we have done. Our foster homes are one place where they don’t have to be scared of anything. We are not doing this because it is a noble cause; it is not our profession either.
We always do our best to help homeless animals in dire need but we normally would not go beyond our jurisdiction because we do not have the resources. But this is a special case which needs urgent medical attention because of the severity and swelling of the prolapse. We were contacted by a good Samaritan, Lily, to help with a two-year-old sick and homeless dog that had been suffering from a Vaginal Prolapse.

We immediately said we would get her the medical care she needed as long as she would find her a foster home once she was well.
Vaginal prolapse occurs when muscles in the pelvis become loose. This causes one or more of the pelvic organs to protrude into or out of the vagina. We felt that was what Elizabeth (as we named her) was dealing with plus the fact she was an intact female dog. Her internal organs were hanging in the open air – it was truly shocking. Elizabeth was composed, remained calm despite her increasingly dire situation.
“We Are The Animals’ Voice” – Heart
We couldn’t let this poor dog live on the streets even though we had a lot of difficulties. She had vaginal prolapse, and her wound was already infected and swelling. We discovered that maggots had infested Elizabeth’s vaginal prolapse and was being eaten away by maggots. She was in pain and miserable on the streets. We believe that if we hadn’t rescued her right when we did she likely wouldn’t have survived another day.
Three weeks ago, a once nameless homeless/stray dog, who was suffering from Vaginal Prolapse (a condition that occurs when part of the large intestine slips outside the anus) was spotted in Tuaran near Lily Saloon wandering on her own. No one knows exactly how long she’s been homeless. She was so fearful, that rescuing her became very difficult.
After the unsuccessful attempts to rescue the doggo, on March 5, she was finally rescued. It took two canned food, fried chicken and distraction from other dogs, which lured her toward the slip leash and dog carrier.
On the way to vet clinic, her eyes showed gratitude and relief. Despite her setbacks in life, she was a Gentle Sweetheart. She was brought to vet by Heart. Elizabeth receives emergency treatment. Even worse her stomach, was clogged, there were lots of dry, rubbery branches. Vets have saved a two year old doggo who suffered one of the ‘worst cases of vaginal prolapse ever seen. Elizabeth was close to death when she came into the care of animal clinic.
‘Horrendous’ photos show she was in excruciating pain and suffering from an ‘extremely serious’ case of vaginal prolapse – meaning her vagina was protruding out of her body.
Her condition was so bad that Elizabeth, who also had ‘skin issues’, had to undergo a high risk operation immediately or she would die. The risky procedure is often unsuccessful and can often result in dogs dying. We waited with ‘baited breath’ as vets performed complex surgery to resect the prolapse. After hours under the knife we received the ‘good news’ that the operation was successful.
She still has a low temperature, but the results of the surgery were as well as could be hoped for given the life or death odds. Elizabeth will be moved into foster care after being discharged while she undergoes ‘a long process of recovery’. That poor doggo. Breaks our hearts to see her like that. Hope she makes a full recovery from the surgery and gets to go to a very loving foster home.

Elizabeth will need routine visits to the Veterinarian clinic after being discharged from the clinic in order to monitor her prolapse. He will also require extensive surgery in the future to prevent it from reoccurring. We are hoping that our followers can once again come together to ensure that Elizabeth gets all her current and future medical needs covered. Her wonderful foster family will be taking on a huge responsibility on just one income and we want to ensure that Elizabeth is set for a successful recovery. Any donation amount will be very helpful and greatly appreciated.
We wish Elizabeth and her future foster family the very best! Elizabeth is the doggo with nine lives. Prior to the rescue, she survived alone, with no food or water, no sufficient shelter. She has withstood the abused on the streets, the scorching hot weather and severe rain. She is a proven survivor! We don’t know her past but we do know her future is promising and will be filled with continuous blessings and love.
Lastly, we want to thank our followers for their continuous support. We truly could not have done this without everyone’s participation. It takes a Heart “village” to save a life and we are honoured to be part of this “village”.
Unfortunately, the medical expenses have drained our organisation’s bank account. We are in desperate need of donations and all rescues will have to be suspended until we can raise the funds to properly treat the animals in need.
This dog deserves to live her best life. Please help make that possible. It’s clear Elizabeth has spent much of her life in severe pain. Elizabeth’s surgery, medical care and boarding have cost Heart more than RM2,500. All money collected not used for Elizabeth’s treatment will be used for the care of other rescued animals.
Donations to help defray these costs so we can save even more lives. We need your help to raise at least RM2,500 to save Elizabeth’s life.
Heart does not euthanise animals to make space to house others. We are a no-kill animal welfare group and work to preserve life whenever possible.
We rely on donations from people like you who are willing to spend their hard-earned money to help animals in dire needs.
If you would like to help to pay for Elizabeth’s medical veterinary bill and her other expenses please send your money to:
