IN ancient times, the pendulum was used to check energy levels and find answers to the unknown.

It has nothing to do with magic, and you need not be a psychic to use it.

Anyone can learn how to use dowsing to provide answers.

Using the pendulum as a communication device, an individual will activate their hidden telepathic abilities.

It creates a bridge between the logical and intuitive parts of our minds.

Just like how our television and radio pick up unseen communication waves, the pendulum acts like an antenna that receives information from the vibrations and waves emitted by people, places, thoughts, things and surroundings.

Research by scientists has revealed that the pendulum responds to electromagnetic energy that radiates from everything on earth.

When suspended freely, the pendulum responds to positive and negative energy force fields by swinging clockwise or anti-clockwise.

When one uses it with respect and faith, it is known to give an accurate answer to any issue that the dowser seeks a response to.

The pendulum comes in different shapes, sizes, colours and types. An individual should choose one that they feel connected to.

How to use your pendulum

First, choose a pendulum that you are comfortable with.

The highly recommended ones are those that are diamond-shaped and made of brass, crystal or gold.

Any object hanging from a chain that is six to eight inches long can do the function of dowsing.

An important aspect of dowsing is choosing a quiet spot because you need to relax and free your mind from any expectations. The recommended place is the northeast of any occupied space.

Those who are into meditation and spiritual practices are known to pick up the skill faster.

The next step is to get a feel of the pendulum and how it will move for you.

Hold the end of the string or chain gently with your right thumb and the index or second finger.

Determine the direction your pendulum will take for “yes” and “no” before you ask a question.

At all times, make sure the rotation is not influenced by the movement of your hand or fingers.

Keep your eyes on the pendulum and request “show me yes”, and it will move clockwise and “show me no”, and very likely, it will move anti-clockwise.

Once you have firmed the direction of its swing, ask a question and watch its movement.

For queries like checking land quality, if the pendulum moves rapidly, it indicates intense energies in the area.

Also, start the dowsing practice by asking a simple question like “will it rain today?”, or see if you get the correct answer for your name or the date, by asking “am I .....” or “is today .....’’.

Observe and record the answers systematically. You can also draw a chart and write your questions on them.

Hold the pendulum two to three inches above the respective questions and request an answer when using a chart.

If you don’t get any response, take a break and try again later or another day.

It is also vital that the dowser who is using the pendulum is in harmony with himself, the environment and the people surrounding him so that his aura is in tune with the energies governing the surrounding.
