THE Sabah Government signed an agreement with the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), under which Felda would develop 247,000 acres by planting cocoa and oil palm over a 10-year period.

Federal Minister of Land and Regional Development, Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Yusof, said Felda would open settlement schemes in the area provided by the State Government. This, he said, would be in line with the Government’s objective to develop the State, eradicate poverty and raise the standard of living of people in rural areas who make up 75 per cent of the Sabah population.
