“These actions can cause panic among the community. It is also an offence to make a false report,” he said in a statement.
In a post that went viral on Facebook, the girl claimed to have been kidnapped by a group of men in a white van in Tanjung Aru.
She said she managed to escape when the kidnappers stopped the vehicle as one of them wanted to answer the call of nature near Sutera Harbour.
She further claimed that later she happened to get the help of an adult man, a resident of Kg Baru, before she was found by concerned members of the public at Wisma Sedco.
