100 house owners get notices to vacate land in Lahad Datu
Lahad Datu District Council officers serving a notice to a house owner. 
LAHAD DATU: Some 100 house owners of illegally built structures were issued notices to vacate the areas by the Lahad Datu District Council.

The illegal structures are in Lahad Datu District Council (MDLD) and Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) land near Mile 7, Silam and town area.

District Officer, Firuz Idzualdeen Mohd Dzul, said they were given 14 days to vacate the land.

“We have carried out an operation today and discovered about 100 houses built illegally on land belong to MDLD and POIC.

“A census found that those building homes in the areas are locals and non-locals,” he said, adding that this was the first operation being carried out in this district.

Firuz said a total some 150 personnel and officers from MDLD, District Office, Information Department, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), Public Works Department, Police, POIC, IJM, Water Department, Civil Defence Force, Rela, Fire and Rescue Department, Land and Survey Department, Wildlife Department, Agriculture Department and PDKTU took part in the joint operation aimed at curbing slum areas which could lead to criminal activities.
