KOTA MARUDU: Member of Parliament Datuk Wetrom Bahanda said he was informed that victims whose homes that were washed away by recent floods had been promised Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) houses by the Bandau Assemblyman.
“For now, we will wait and see. If the process cannot be expedited, we will submit an application to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry to provide housing assistance under the Prosperous People’s Housing Programme (PPRS),” he said.
He stressed that assistance must be extended to all affected victims without discrimination based on political beliefs.
“We have heard the grievances of residents regarding this issue, where they were advised to seek assistance only from the candidates they voted for.
“That is certainly not our approach. We have never asked anyone who they voted for before offering help,” he said.
Wetrom emphasised that the election period has passed and that those elected must now carry out their responsibilities.
