Kota Kinabalu: A 25-year-old man was on Friday charged in the Sessions Court with raping his sister-in-law.The man pleaded not guilty before Judge Azreena Aziz to raping the 28-year-old woman at 11.30pm in early February this year at a house in Putatan.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

Azreena fixed March 28 this year for case management and released the man on a bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties.

The man was defended by counsel Dominic Chew and Luke Ressa Balang.

In another court, a 19-year-old man claimed trial to having sex with an underage girl.

Sabdi Abdul is accused of committing the offence against the 16-year-old girl at 10am in early November 2014 at a house in Lok Kawi, Putatan.

His case would be mentioned on March 21 and the court allowed him bail at RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties. Deputy Public Prosecutor Husna Abdul Halim appeared for the prosecution while Sabdi was represented by counsel Michelle Usman.
