Tawau: A family outing turned tragic when a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) student drowned in a swimming pool at a tourism centre in Jalan Bukit Quoin Hill, here, Sunday.District Police Chief ACP Fadil Marsus said staff at the centre jumped into the pool after being informed that Ashiraf Ayub, 17, had not surfaced since jumping into it, and found the boy at the bottom of the pool.The boy was then taken to the Balung Health Clinic by the mother at about 11am, where he was confirmed dead by a medical officer, he said.
