Kota Kinabalu: Motivation given by the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) has helped improve the academic achievement of Kadazandusun children, said its President, Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.He said the success of some recipients of the Huguan Siou Excellent Education Award in completing their studies in institutions of higher learning and securing jobs in Putrajaya was testimony to the fact.
Pairin, who is also Deputy Chief Minister and Rural Development Minister, said this at the award presentation ceremony for the Kota Marudu district, here, Tuesday.
He urged parents in the Kadazandusun community to work together with the association to improve their children's academic achievement.
KDCA Deputy President Datuk Maximus Ongkili, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said the award presentation, introduced in 1997, is its annual event.
This year, 11 students with excellent results in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations received the award.
KDCA has also been organising the Excellent Students' Motivation Camp since 1999 to help students do well in their examinations. - Bernama
