Kota Kinabalu: Sabah largest hypermall, 1Borneo, will host the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair Sabah from Sept 4-6.Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun is expected to officiate at the launching.
The Matta Fair is the nation's number one consumer travel and tourism fair.
Matta Fair Sabah is held the same day Matta Fair Kuala Lumpur is conducted so that Sabahans could also enjoy similar special rates offered by the various airliners.
In a statement, Director of Malaysia Tourism, Sabah, Roslan Abdullah said the event is to promote travel among Malaysians as well as to create awareness on tourism industry.
"We want Sabahans to explore places like Johore, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak since there are direct flights to these locations," he said.
Chairman of Sabah Matta, K.L. Tan said the three-day travel fair would also be promoting overseas destinations.
The success of the outbound travel, he said would ensure airlines maintain its international flights.
This, he said will help Sabah in its promotional effort to draw tourists from key destinations.
