Kunak: Several passages in coastal areas and beaches here, believed to be used by illegal immigrants, are in dire need for patrol by security forces, a source told Daily Express.The source, a Kunak ex-Military Intelligence Officer (MIO), said areas like rivers or mangroves could be used by illegals to move undetected if security in the area is not strengthened.

Sungai Tingkayu, Sapang Air, mangroves close to Madai and downstream of Sungai Kalumpang are among locations used by illegals to sneak into the district, the source added.

Downstream Sungai Tingkayu was believed to be a hotspot for illegal immigrants to sneak into Tawau using small boats, seven years ago.

The source said he received his information from local residents in the area.
