Kota Kinabalu: The world's third biggest floating glass producer, Xinyi Glass Holding Limited, plans to invest RM1.2 billion in Sabah.Its financial director Datuk Sin Ket Hin said the company is hoping to secure 200 acres to set up its plant and when fully operational will provide 1,400 jobs to the people.

"At the moment, we have shortlisted three locations - in Kudat, Kota Marudu and Sipitang," he said after paying a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Thursday.

According to Sin, the company is interested to invest in Sabah due to its strategic location that is close to China, Singapore, Vietnam and other countries. The floating glass is used in building construction and in cars. The company has operations in China, Hong Kong and Canada.
