Foreign beggars on rise in KK
Kota Kinabalu: Vagrants and beggars are increasingly being felt in the State Capital despite efforts taken to address the matter, according to netizens.Photos of what appeared to be a family of foreign beggars along the roadside of a prominent stretch in the city centre started making its rounds on social media.

The netizens asked if the authorities were making any efforts to address the menace.

Children from the group were daring enough to knock on the windows of motorists, asking for money. State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew had earlier commented on the presence of beggars on the roadside, describing it as very unsightly and damaging the image of the State Capital and Sabah as a whole.

A spokesperson from City Hall said they held a meeting on the matter last month.
