Indonesian stabbed to death by fellow worker
BELURAN: An Indonesian tractor driver was stabbed to death after picking a fight with a fellow countryman at Tulid Mas Estate, here, on Wednesday.

District Police Chief Supt Kasim Muda said police received a report from the estate claiming that one of its workers sustained injuries on his stomach after being stabbed by another worker, a labourer.

He said the driver, 37, is said to have gone to the estate office where workers were waiting for their attendance to be taken about 5.50am prior to the incident.

He brought along a metal rod used to harvest palm oil fruit and started to beat the labourer over some unpaid money.

According to witnesses, the labourer did not really fight back. He merely used his arms to fend off his attacker.

The other workers at the scene immediately broke up the fight and pulled the two men apart.

“A workmate took the driver away when he saw blood gushing out from his stomach, ” said Kasim.

He added that the workmate then told his supervisor to find the labourer who had been attacked and not to let him leave the area until police arrived.

Kasim said the workmate later brought the driver to the Telupid clinic where he was subsequently sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan.

The driver was pronounced dead not long afterwards.

The labourer was picked up by police and is being investigated for murder.

A kitchen knife, metal rod and some other items were also seized from the estate following the labourer’s arrest.

The case will be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
