KOTA KINABALU: Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi promised to fulfil 100 per cent what’s in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Constitution if Barisan Nasional returns to power.
He said during the previous Umno General Assembly, it was decided that Umno Sabah is to be given autonomy.

“This is why there was no interference from Umno President and Umno Chairman in the selection of Umno’s candidate for the Kimanis by-election. The decision was left to Umno Sabah,” he said during the Kimanis parliamentary by-election campaign at Kg Malawaring Bongawan, Wednesday night.
He said this showed that Umno/BN don’t make promises they won’t keep. “My promise to the people is that we will implement 100 per cent what is stated in the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said to standing ovation from the audience.
Also present were Bung (Sabah Umno Chairman), Umno Supreme Council member cum Tuaran Umno Chief Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, among others.

“This is a promise that has to be implemented, I know there are obstacles but there is no obstacles that cannot be overcome, God willing, if the mandate is given to BN again through Sabah Umno and its BN partners in Sabah and if we form the government in Putrajaya,” he said.
“Let this Kimanis by-election be the first site, don’t leave Bung standing alone as the only Umno/BN MP at the Dewan Rakyat, allow Mohamad Alamin to be another strong voice for the people of Sabah,” he said.

“We need leaders who speak out loud like Bung… there are far too many issues in Sabah because the present MPs representing parties not from ours are too silent, as if their mouths are sewn.”
He also urged the people to take whatever hampers or money being distributed by rival parties during the campaign, as the money belongs to the people.

“If they give money, take it because it is the people’s money, if they give hampers take it, but give your votes to Mohamad Alamin, because this involves dignity, we don’t want to be lied to again, once is enough,” he said.
