Six new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak
KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded six new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total in the state to nine.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah (pic) said two of the new cases were from Limbang in northern Sarawak and the other four from Kuching.

All six are from the cluster who attended a religious gathering at a Sri Petaling mosque in Kuala Lumpur from Feb 28 to March 1 and are being treated at the designated hospitals.

Uggah said Sarawak will immediately announce new cases so that the public would be well-informed of the situation.

He again appealed to those who attended the event at the Sri Petaling mosque to report immediately to the nearest hospital or divisional health office for Covid-19 screening if they had not done so.

"We have managed to track down 311 participants, but we believe there may be more," he said after chairing a state disaster management committee meeting here Saturday (Mar 14).

Uggah also said a special team had been set up to look through the health declaration forms of everyone who entered Sarawak through the four major airports from March 2 to 5.

"This will enable us to identify those who flew into Sarawak," he said.

He added that he was seeking support and cooperation from private hospitals in Sarawak to address the Covid-19 situation.
