Armed gang robbery: Man, woman charged

Kota Kinabalu: A man and a woman were charged with armed gang robbery in Kota Belud.Jobless Wan Mohd Afzannizal Mohd Isa, 37, and housewife Siti Rubayah Jafdin, 29, pleaded not guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against them on Tuesday.

The duo is accused of committing robbery at 8.30am on Oct 5 this year and taking off RM6,000 cash belonging to Kedai Runcit H&M at Kg Hijrah in Jalan Rampayan Laut.
They used a machete during the alleged incident.
The offence under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court set Oct 23 for case management and released the duo on bail of RM10,000 in two local sureties each with permanent address and permanent job.

Failure to furnish the bail, they would be remanded either in Kepayan lockup or Kota Belud lockup.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Addibah saiful objected to bail and requested for the duo to be detained either in Kapayan or Kota Belud lockup due to the Covid-19.
