Filipino charged with entering Sabah illegally

Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino was charged with entering the State illegally.Willy Kabumani was brought before Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim, Monday.

However, no plea was taken from Willy as he did not understand Bahasa Melayu and asked for an interpreter.
The court set Nov 26 for mention the case pending the availability of an interpreter.
Pending the date, the court ordered Willy to be remanded further.
Willy is accused of entering the State without any document at 11am on Oct 13 this year at the bridge area in Kg Pondo, Pulau Gaya, here.

The offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act and punishable under Section 6(3) of the same Act carries a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, and whipping of up to six lashes, on conviction.
Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Lim Swee Beng appeared for the prosecution while Willy was not represented.
