Kota Kinabalu: The estimated RM3 billion Kota Kinabalu Water Supply (KKWS) Phase 3 undertaking which includes building a dam will proceed at a proposed site at the upstream of Papar River in Kaiduan, Penampang.

(pic) said the site was selected as it could resolve long standing water woes in the West Coast up to 100 years in terms of clean water for both the rakyat and industries.

He said the previous site at the river mouth of the Papar River at Mandalipau, no doubt had lots of water to supply but could only sustain for about 60 years under the same cost.
“We are facing many water problems in Sabah including in the urban area like here and West Coast area. In fact, I received many complaints from people who express their grouses at experiencing shortage of water in their respective areas.
