Two foreigners fined RM150,000

Tazlan and Sanyo pleaded guilty and were fined a total of RM150,000 for possessing petrol without permission.
TAWAU: Two foreigners were fined a total of RM150,000 by the Session Court here on Monday for possessing controlled item petrol illegally.Talzan Tigasan, 34, and Sanyo Naldo, 32, pleaded guilty before Session Court Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud for possessing 775 litres of petrol and 175 litres in their respective boats between 1.45am and 2am at the waters off Pulau Boheyan, Semporna on Jan 4, this year.

Talzan was fined RM100,000 or two years in jail and six months in jail for possessing 775 litres of petrol in an unregistered speed boat without permission of Malaysia Supply Controller.
The Court also ordered the 775 litres of petrol, speedboat and its outboard engine to be handed to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Semporna branch for disposal.
Sanyo was fined RM50,000 or one year in jail and six months imprisonment for possessing 175 litres of petrol inside an unregistered boat without obtaining permission from the Malaysia Supply Controller.
The Court also ordered for the exhibit case involving 175 litres of petrol, a pump boat and its engine to be handed to KPDNHEP Semporna branch to be disposed.

Both accused were detained by the General Operation Force (GOF) in a raid and charged under Section 20(1) of the Supply Control Act 1961 for keeping controlled goods without permission inside unregistered boats when they were at the waters off Pulau Boheyan, Semporna.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The section carries a maximum fine of RM1 million or jail up to three years or both, upon conviction.
