First Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine batch for Sabah arrives at KKIA

KOTA KINABALU: The first batch of the Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine for Sabah totalling 16,380 doses began arriving at Terminal 2 of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), here, today.

It will take two flights to transport the first consignment from Kuala Lumpur, with the first delivery arriving at 12.30pm and sent to the storage centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, here, and the second arriving at 4.30pm to be transported to the Keningau District Hospital storage centre.

Sabah will receive altogether 104,130 doses of the vaccine, which will involve six deliveries, and 42,117 people in the State are expected to be vaccinated in the First Phase of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, said Sabah Covid-19 crisis spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, to receive the vaccine.

Hajiji is expected to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in Sabah after he officiates the launch of the State-level Covid-19 Vaccination Programme on Mar 4, said Masidi, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister-cum-Finance Minister II.
