Police, TNI personnel deployed to Papua to hunt KKB

The deployment of TNI and police personnel was considered as the state’s representation in the community.
JAKARTA: The joint personnel of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police were sent to Ilaga District, Puncak Regency in Papua, to hunt down criminal armed groups (KKB), which have recently been labelled as terrorists by the Indonesian government.Chief of Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Police Sr. Commissioner Iqbal Alqudusy, said that the deployment of TNI and police personnel was considered as the state’s representation in the community.

“This is done to guard people’s activities, as well as the hunting down the KKB that are now called terrorist groups,” he said Saturday.
He added that it was also due to the massive terror and violence spread by the armed groups to the people or the security apparatus.

“The massive terror spread by these groups has forced the government to take firm action by changing the term KKB into terrorist,” Alqudusy remarked.
