Durian tree crushes house
Part of the house and car car damaged.
SIPITANG: A family here was nearly killed when a durian tree fell and crushed a part of their house in Kg Pantai, here, Tuesday, said Sipitang District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Janil Jaya.

The District Fire and Rescue team received the emergency call at 10.06 am and seven members along with two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle were rushed to the scene.

It was found that a part of the house along with a three-tonne lorry and a Proton car had been damaged by the tree.

“Strong winds knocked down the tree but the family was lucky, there are no lives lost or injuries.

“Fortunately, the incident happened during the day and the residents managed to escape,” he said. Janil advised residents to be more careful of large trees near their houses due to the risk that the trees could fall any time.
