AN oil palm residue processing factory belonging to Wilmar International at Jalan Batu Sapi caught fire on Wednesday.Sandakan Zone Chief, PgB Martin Thomas said they rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.16pm.

He said the operation was led by Sandakan PKPgB Chief Jimmy Lagung with 26 personnel along with two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), a tanker, an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) and a multi-purpose utility vehicle.
He said 35 percent of the roof was damaged during the incident.
“Fire was reported to be under control at 9.12pm while operation ended at 8am on Thursday
“The cause and estimate of the loss are still under investigation,” he said.
