Kota Kinabalu: Two men were fined RM10,500 each for using three fake statements as supporting documents to approve the loan application by a woman.

(pic), 30, and Ridwuan Ahmad, 31, changed their plea and pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat, to the three charges against them on Tuesday.
Hazrie and Ridwuan were fined RM3,500 or four months’ jail for each charge against them.
On the first to second count, Hazrie and Ridwuan had used two forged bank statements dated March 31 and June 30, 2016 under the name of Nur Azneza Atiqah Mudi as the supporting documents to approve her personal loan application.
On the third count, the duo used a forged pay slip under Nur Azneza for the same purpose.
They committed the offence between July and September 2016 at the Bank Rakyat Kota Kinabalu Branch.
The offence under Section 471 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 465 of the same Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
During mitigation, counsel P.J Perira who defended the duo, asked for no custodial sentence saying that his clients have no previous convictions and by pleading guilty, they had save the court time and cost.
Perira also informed the court that his clients were also remorseful.
However, Prosecuting Officer Rekhraj Singh urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence on the grounds that it was serious offences.
