KOTA BELUD: A 24-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court, here, Wednesday, with attempting to stab a police corporal with a knife three years ago.Unemployed Mohd Zuhairey Suleh was accused of committing the crime against Corporal Lonan Anak Sani at 8pm on March 11, 2018, at a bus stop in Jalan Kg Sembirai, here.

No plea was recorded from Zuhairey, who was brought before Assistant District Officer Peter Jiton, who sat as second class magistrate.
The charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read with Section 511 of the same Code, provides for a jail sentence, fine or whipping or any two of such punishments, on conviction.
Peter set July 12 for Zuhairey’s plea to be taken and offered him bail at RM10,000 in two sureties.
Earlier, Inspector Mohd U’kasyah Hashim proposed bail at RM12,000 on the grounds that Zuhairey, who has been on the run for four years, acted aggressively and injured the policeman when he was arrested.
