Kota Kinabalu: A Sabahan woman was shocked to find herself listed by Health authorities as positive for Covid-19 and admitted in a Johor hospital in a unique case that looks like identity theft.

Alexandra Rita Padua, in her Facebook update on June 26, said she received notifications from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the MySejahtera app about her supposed positive status on June 24.

She then rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I but health workers there told her she could not be swab-tested as she had no symptoms, was not a close contact of a positive person and was not assigned to be tested by a doctor.

She then called the Penampang Health Clinic to ask for a test but was given the same response before going to the Likas Covid-19 centre to ask for a screening and was later told her identity card had been flagged as positive in Kluang, Johor.

Alexandra denied she had been to Johor and later called the Kluang Covid-19 operations centre who then told her they had called “her” to inform her of her positive status.

Upon checking with them, the Sabahan woman found the number the Kluang centre had called was not hers and later lodged a report with Penampang police.

Kluang police later told her that the other “Alexandra Rita Padua” is being admitted at a hospital in Pasir Gudang, Johor and asked the Sabahan woman to furnish them with documents to confirm her identity.

Meanwhile, Alexandra said she has to live with her “positive” status while the National Security Council sorts her case out.

“[The National Security Council] was shocked by my case as they have not heard of anything like this before,” lamented Alexandra.
