For the first three years there was no problems but this week following torrential rain, water gushed into the ground floor of the house. She was not sure what had caused the overflow but it couldn’t be due to earthworks in progress at the end of the row of house. “Not all the houses in the estate were affected but our row was badly affected,” she said.
She said the flood was due to the drainage clogged with debris and the system could not handle the flow of water resulting it to flood the road and some houses.
“We have noticed movement of heavy trucks on the road lately there but it could also be soil erosion.”
She said experts in agencies such as Labuan Corporation and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) as well as the Department of Environment should look into the matter.

Leong feared that if the problem is not rectified it may become worse and create more problems to the residents in the area.
She said that Labuan Corporation had been informed of the problems on the matter but was puzzled to hear that the developer had not officially handed over the property to the Corporation.

“It is strange because we have been paying house assessment for the past three years. The Labuan Corporation should make it its responsibility to discuss the matter with the developer and seek a solution as ignoring is not a solution.”
On another issue, Leong lamented the uncut grass at the open space of the housing estate. She said not all the houses are occupied but the space must be cleared for those who had bought the property and expected a good open space.
