PETALING JAYA: A video of an LRT train travelling with one of its doors open is quickly making the rounds on social media.
Uploaded by @perksofbeingsxf on Twitter earlier today, the eight-second long video taken by a passenger shows the nearly-empty LRT train rushing past apartments with the door on one of its six coaches still open.
ADVERTISEMENT The video, which has racked up around 171,000 views as of 3pm today, also comes two months after a collision between two LRT trains which resulted in 47 passengers being seriously injured.
Replying to a query by Rapid KL, @perksofbeingsxf said she was uncertain about the train number but said the train was travelling from Ara Damansara to Lembah Subang at around 3pm yesterday.
In a statement today, Rapid KL apologised over the incident which it said happened at around 3pm yesterday when the doors of the LRT Kelana Jaya line train remained open after its departure from the Ara Damansara station heading towards the Lembah Subang station.
It said the seven passengers on board the train were evacuated safely.
ADVERTISEMENT “Rapid KL takes this incident very seriously and a detailed investigation is taking place to identify the cause. Appropriate mitigation plans will be implemented to avoid future occurrence,” it said.
Rapid KL said the incident was discovered “immediately” by the operations control centre and the coach was taken out of service less than two minutes later when it reached the Lembah Subang station.

The coach was then sent to the depot for immediate inspection and further investigation.
