KOTA BELUD: Some 650 residents in Pulau Mantanani, here, became among the first to receive the single-dose CanSino vaccine in Sabah on Friday.

Pintasan Assemblyman Fairuz Renddan said the effort to give CanSino was accelerated because it only requires a single dose and, thus, very easy to give to the population, especially in rural areas.

“I am confident that with the CanSino vaccine which only requires one dose, the effort to vaccinate the population in the Interior and hard to reach places definitely can be realised.

The Sabah Bersatu Armada Chief also stressed that the Covid-19 vaccine has been proven to be very helpful in reducing the risks and complications experienced by patients who test positive for Covid-19.

“We have seen a reduction in positive cases for levels four and five that require respirators, and most of the new positive cases are for levels one and two.

“This is the success of the vaccines that we are beginning to see having a positive effect and certainly the Government’s noble efforts to the people should always be appreciated,” he added.

Fairuz said the cooperation of all parties such as frontliners, Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), authorities such as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), RELA, Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), the N8 Pintasan Squad and Sabah Bersatu Armada helped a lot to realise efforts to achieve herd immunity especially in Pintasan constituency.
