9 made homeless in Tuaran fire

Tuaran: A total of nine residents were left homeless after their house was destroyed in a fire in Kg Tajau, here, Monday.However, there were also no casualties in the incident that started about 10.30am.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said upon receiving a distress call at 10.32am, 10 personnel were deployed to the scene along with a machine, an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle and a water tanker.
He said the operation was also assisted by fire fighters from BBP Lintas involving five personnel with one machine.
“Upon arrival, the non-permanent type structure was totally destroyed.
“The fire spread quickly as the house was built from plywood in addition to the hot weather,” he said.

The operation was successfully controlled at 10.45am and ended at 12.40pm while the cause of the incident and the estimated loss are still being investigated.
