Cop, teacher killed in crash

Kota Kinabalu: An off-duty policeman and a teacher were killed when the Nissan Almera they were travelling in skidded and crashed near Metro Town, Jalan Lintas, early Thursday.The policeman has been identified as Azrini @ Azrin Abu Bakar, 42, from the outskirts, and the teacher as Dylevia Dewalter, 38.

The duo succumbed to injuries while being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital following the 5.30am accident, according to Acting City Police Chief Supt George Abd Rakman.
Initial investigations showed the car driven by the woman was heading towards Jalan Tuaran Bypass from the City Mall direction.
The woman was said to have lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it crashing against a tree on the road divider.
The impact caused both the driver and her passenger to be thrown out of the car before landing in a nearby ditch.

They were subsequently found by passers-by who called for assistance and were rushed to the hospital.
City police Insp Puan Farhana was at the scene to investigate.
