TAWAU: Joseph Pang will assume the post of Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) President, effective December 11.

He will replace Arnold Joibi who will be transferred to Kota Kinabalu.

Joseph, a local who has served TMC for more than 30 years, was previously Deputy President and Secretary. Prior to that, he was the head of TMC property department and an accounting officer.

“It is a new challenge for me….I hope to receive cooperation from all parties and the public in developing Tawau together.

“I will try my best to address the problems plaguing Tawau such as floods, water shortage and the upgrading of roads as well as other basic facilities in the district,” he said.

According to him, Tawau has a lot of potential to be developed, not only for eco-tourism but also for education and medical tourism.
