Prostitution activity case May 25

Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old dispatch driver charged with being a middleman in a prostitution activity involving a woman will go trial on May 25- 26, next year.Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salimm set the date for David Tang Hing Huat during pre-trial case management.

Tang is accused of acting as middleman for the woman at 9.35pm on Oct 25 this year at a parking lot of a hotel in Penampang.
The offence under Section 372(1)(f)/34 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 15 years, and whipping, on conviction.
On Nov 1 this year, Tang claimed trial to the charge and was released on bail.
In another case, a 39-year-old man was jailed five years and ordered to get a stroke of the cane for taking drugs repeatedly.

Terrence Austan pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz. He was found taking the drug on Nov 12 this year at the police station here.
The charge stated that he has two previous convictions for taking drugs.

He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39C (2) of the same Act which provides for a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction.
After completing his jail sentence, the court ordered Terrence to be placed under police supervision for two years.
The court ordered Terrence to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan appeared for the prosecution while Terrence was not represented.
