TAWAU: Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan has urged all parties to give support to the efforts to further develop traditional archery.

He said non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the private sector, including individuals, can play their part by contributing financially to the existing archery organisations.

The contribution will definitely help the traditional archery enthusiasts to hold various activities, as well as further develop this healthy activity, he said, adding apart from making the sport a leisure activity, it is also an activity that is the sunnah of Rasulullah S.A.W.

“Therefore, it is our responsibility to practice the sunnah of Rasulullah in our daily life,” he said when officiating the closing of the Sabah East Coast Traditional Archery League at the Tawau Prison Department field.

Nizam, who is also the Apas Assemblyman (Adun), said he will help the efforts of active archery associations here because he wants to see more traditional archers born in the district.

“We also hope that more young people will be involved in traditional archery so it will be sustainable,” he said.
