TAWAU: Security forces detained seven Indonesian illegal immigrants who were found crammed in a Proton Saga Iswara and foiled their attempt to enter the country via the waters of Kg Kurnia Jaya, Mile 4, Jalan Apas, on Monday.
Commander of Joint Task Force 2 (ATB 2) Brigadier General Abdul Karim Ahmad said the driver, a 58-year-old local believed to be an illegal immigrant agent, was also arrested in the 10.21pm operation dubbed “Op Cegah Pati (OCP) Daratan”. He said the seven immigrants comprised a 36-year-old man, three women aged between 27 and 38, and two boys and a girl aged between two and eight years.
